๐Ÿชง Why watermark

A watermark puts your name or logo right on the video while it plays. So your brand stays on the content, and any copy floating around clearly points back to you.

It will not stop someone filming the screen, nothing fully does, but it keeps your mark on every frame and works as an easy extra layer on top of DRM.

โœ“ Set it up in one player, no code
โœ“ Adjust size and opacity so it does not bother students
๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Step by step

Add a watermark in 6 steps

1
Open Kinescope

Sign in at kinescope.com. If you are new, create a free account first.

2
Upload your video

Drag your file or folder into the project to upload it.

3
Open the video

Click the video and stay on the General tab.

4
Click "Customize player"

Scroll to the Player section and open Customize player.

5
Open the Advanced tab

In the player editor, switch from Basic to Advanced, the watermark settings live there.

6
Turn on Enable watermark

In the Watermark section, toggle Enable watermark, then set Type, Size, Display frequency, Opacity and Style.

๐Ÿ’ก

Set Type to Random so the mark moves around the frame, and keep Opacity light. Your students barely notice it, but it stays on every copy.

๐ŸŽ›๏ธ The settings

What each option does

๐Ÿ”ค
Type and Style

Show your text or logo. Random type moves the mark around so it is hard to crop out.

๐Ÿ“
Size and Opacity

Control how big and how visible the mark is. Light opacity keeps the video clean for paying students.

โฑ๏ธ
Display frequency

How often the mark appears during playback. More often means harder to miss on any copy.

๐ŸŽฏ
Where it shows

The mark renders on the video as it plays, so it carries over to any recording of the screen.

A watermark does not block copying. It makes sure that wherever your video ends up, your brand is on it.
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Honest take

Watermark plus DRM

Be realistic about what each layer does, so you set the right expectation:

โš ๏ธ

No platform can stop someone pointing another phone at the screen. But that copy comes out shaky and low quality, and with a watermark on it, almost no one would pay for it. Use both layers together for real coverage.
